Naina Jaiswal is a teacher at the Little Tots Play School in Colaba who has just returned from a three-week leave she took for an unknown reason. The school is located in the front portion of the property owned by her fiance Rohit Mirchandani, who lives there. The parents come to drop off their kids, and Naina requests one of the parents to send a cake, as she remembered that it was their daughter Niharika’s birthday the next day. She asks if their driver could deliver the cake to the school. Everybody leaves the premises, and Naina engages the children into a cartoon film, later drawing up the curtains, latching up all doors, and loading up a pistol. She then calls the Colaba police station and informs them that she has taken 16 children hostage. Some moments later, Niharika’s driver arrives with a cake. As Naina is setting up the table, he spots the pistol and reacts, causing Naina to knock him out and tie him up, his mouth sealed with a tape. Savitri, the maid, too, returns to take her phone, which she had forgotten, but is knocked out and tied up by Naina, her mouth sealed with a tape too. Both of them are taken into captivity as Naina has no other option. The police officials come to see if the call received was a prank or if there was actually something happening. Naina fires a shot, causing a flutter among the cops. ACP Catherine "Cathy" Alvarez, a pregnant police officer, gets in touch with her, and Naina keeps an unusual demand that she would only negotiate with Inspector Javed Khan, an officer she perhaps knows, indicating that it may have something to do with him. Meanwhile, Naina begins streaming the children unawares live on social media, with the aimed-and-armed pistol rotating around the kids, whence both the parents and the general public are bewildered after she threatens to shoot them dead. Naina initiates her death game, and Javed is brought to the scene. She tells Javed that she would free one kid for every demand met. The first demand she makes is that she wants five crore rupees transferred into her account. Cathy, who is at friction with Javed due to an incompatibility at work and a bitter shared history, does not listen to Javed's pleas for fulfilling the demands and tries to send a force inside. The move results in Naina shooting one of the kids, Aakash Desai, to death, streaming it live on social media. Sensing acute trouble, the Commissioner gives complete charge to Javed and sends Cathy to dig up Naina's background, realizing that the duo's major disagreements are in no way helping the current situation. With the money transferred to her bank account, Naina frees one of the kids, pushing both the parents and the police to realize that she means business. Naina’s second demand is that she wants to talk to Prime Minister Maya Rajguru. Unable to find a solution, Javed agrees and informs the Commissioner, who updates Maya about Naina's desire to speak to her. She gets in touch with Naina who, on phone, urges her to meet up in person. Naina then has Javed track two rank men, Rakesh Mathur and Charan Kumar, who she last knew were working at BWC school in Goregaon, and bring them to her. Using available information, the cops bust Rakesh, but there is absolutely no trace of Charan. Javed, meanwhile, traces Rohit through a call, and asks him to talk whatever he knows. Shalini Guha, a news reporter and Rohit's friend, freaks out on learning of Naina's actions, since her son Yash is one of the kids. Cathy discovers while digging into Naina's past that she has been taking anti-depressant pills and visiting a psychologist since she was 16 years old. She searches Naina’s house and finds medical receipts prescribed by one Dr. Juneja. She gets in touch with Dr. Juneja, while Javed gets hold of Naina’s mother Kusum Jaiswal. Although it initially seems to be a case of a mentally disturbed person suddenly going astray as Cathy speaks to Dr. Juneja, it is on Javed's end when he questions Kusum that this supposition vanishes for the picture becomes a little clearer - Naina was raped at age 16 in a school bus, and Kusum had pleaded both Cathy and Javed, who at the time were chasing a high-profile criminal case to hog media limelight, but in vain; the rapists got away in the process, and back to present day, a shocked Javed is horrified to discover that Rakesh and Charan are actually fugitives in Naina's rape case. Meanwhile, a no-nonsensical Maya decides to meet Naina, but is unclear whether she has agreed to do so in person, even as she arrives at the crime spot; by this time, Naina has successfully prevented Savitri and the driver from escaping, and released Yash and another kid, much to the relief of Shalini, who has arrived to investigate the scene. Maya initially asks Naina why she is trustworthy enough to meet her in person; in an attempt to prove her point, Naina releases a petrified Savitri and, as a shocker, a presumed-to-be-dead Aakash, when a flashback reveals that she had used fake bu
