Album
This was Mahesh Manjrekar's first Hindi film as a director. He started work on it in 1995. However, it got delayed and was released only after his first Hindi release "Vaastav: The Reality" (1999).[1][2]
The completion of this film was delayed by six months because Mahesh Manjrekar could not get time from Sanjay Dutt, who made a cameo appearance as himself in it, to dub for his dialogues. When he did get Dutt's time, Manjrekar asked for another 15 minutes to narrate the script of "Vaastav: The Reality" (1999). The 15 minutes became one and a half hours and Manjrekar got Sanjay Dutt on board for "Vaastav" at the end of it.[3][4]
This film was given its title by the Prime Minister of India at the time, Atal Bihar Vajpayee.
